Backcountry Gardens is located in the heart of San Diego county in southern California. The area is named for the diverse terrain and 'gardens' around the property, most of which remain completely natural. Just 3-miles east of the quaint community of Ramona, Doug & Lisa Barnett moved to the property in 2011.
In 2018, after retiring from corporate life due to health reasons, Lisa was able to focus on her true passion -playing in the dirt! She soon started growing flowers for fun and discovered it was even more fun to share them with the community. At that point, Backcountry Gardens, the cut flower farm was born.
While Lisa dreams of more and more flowers to grow, Doug designs and installs the irrigation and other infrastructure which is essential to the operation. Doug, Lisa, their son and 4 dogs as well as hawks, owls, bobcats, bats, roadrunners, coyotes and countless other inhabitants share the property.
"We feel fortunate to be able to call this place home!"
